The art criticism process is A - to describe the work, so to lists some things you see and to describe what it looks like to someone over the phone. B - analyze the artwork, so to list art elements and design principles, etc. C - interpret the artwork, what is the mood, what is being interpreted. D - judge the artwork, so to ask questions such as what do you think of the artwork, is it successful, ect. I will be critiquing my into drawing charcoal piece. This piece was a very cool experience and pretty hard to do. is is a black and white charcoal piece of my dog that is supposed to be very realistic. The background cannot be seen because it is meant to be plain black or a greyish color. The use of the darker and lighter charcoal crayon are very distinctive, you can see the defined lines and the smoothed out lines that make the piece come together. The mood of this piece is very soft, and nice. It gives me relaxing vibes. I think this piece could use a darker background and probably a little more highlights but other than that i feel that this piece is successful. What is art? Art is a way of expressing your emotions or thoughts. it is an escape from reality and a way into someone's mind. its dancing, its singing, its painting. Art is everything. What is art?My favorite material that I used this year it the acrylic paint. It is my favorite because it can be used to create so many things that people can use to express their thoughts with. Also it's fun to use. What was your FAVORITE material used this year?Artistic style is a certain way that people portray their art. such as painting or drawing or cartoon styles of painting or drawing. It's just how you express yourself. what is artistic style?

1. My portrait is of my good friend bethlehem
2. The medium that i used for my portrait is acrylic paint. 3. My process was first i painted the background and made it ombre from dark blue to light blue. Then i drew flowers and painted the different colors. next i glued on the picture of Bethlehem and painted white dots all around the painting. 4. What i found successful in this portrait is the background. It is meant to mimic the spongebob background and i think it did a pretty good job at that. One thing i wish to change is the size of bethlehem. I wish i would have made her take up more of the space on the canvas so there wasn't so much blank space. 1. The nose warmup has proven to be most helpful in my portrait so far. It allows me to be able to draw noses from different perspectives.
2. What i found most surprising about the facial proportions is that you can fit 5 eyes across your face. I think that is crazy and that it doesn't look like 5 eyes can fit but they can. 1. I used 6 different mediums in my artwork, Prisma colored pencils which I used to draw the man on my paper. I used tissue paper for texture. I used cardboard to create the mountains. I used newspaper as a base in some parts of the project. I used acrylic paint for the background and i used stencils to write the letters.
2. My word for this project was calm and the phrase was " what are 3 things that represent you. I portrayed my word by expressing the colors in a certain way that kind of makes it seem like the sun is shining down on them even when there is darkness behind them. I feel that the colors used portrays a calm relaxing mood. 1. The progress I have made since the in process blog post was finishing up the painting and putting the box in the kiln to be fired.
2. what i find successful about my finished piece is that the shape of the box and the flower. i feel that the flower has a lot of detail in it and i'm proud of myself for completing this box. 3. What i would to change if i were to do this project again is make the vines more defined and change the color of the background. I also might have changed the type of paint. 1. what i plan do with my piece is create sort of a vine like box all leading up to a big flower. After the vines and flower are all on the box i plan to paint the background blue and the vines green with the flower petals pink. I will finish the piece by painting it with glaze and then fire it.
2. What i found difficult about this project is the sculpting part. Things kept falling off and the flower kept breaking. 3. What i found successful about my piece so far is the painting part of my box. 4. So my process so far is that I have pieced all the parts together using scratch and slip and then once everything was painted and sculpted i put it in the kiln to be fired. My piece shows off the theme line becaused in the finished piece you can see all the little indents on the paper and you can see all the lines.
My piece was successful but one thing i would change about it is that i would make the lines more defined. i feel like this piece could also use more detail. overall i think this piece was very successful. The perspective i used on my painting is the 1 point perspective.
The photo i took was in the mountains with my 5 cousins, 2 brothers, and grandparents. we were eating dinner at this cool restaurant right by the lake. what i found difficult about the painting was trying to match colors. the two warm ups i picked helped me because it taught me where to focus my paint at and how to paint with different techniques. The activity i found most helpful in the learning process was definitely the watercolor techniques page, it helped me learn how to paint with watercolors and what techniques to use when i want a certain outcome.
what i like about watercolor is that it is fun to paint with and the finished product looks so cool. what i found difficult about watercolor is that it is somewhat hard to control. |
